“None of us are in position to earn God’s gifts, least of all to earn the gift of life. But we can show ourselves worthy of the gift of eternal life by … dedicating ourselves to Jehovah and then proving faithful to that dedication.” (The Watchtower, August 15, 1952, p. 485)
How long do you have to “prove faithful” before you can be “assured of everlasting life”?
“At the end of the thousand years, the last trace of sin and its consequence, death, will have been destroyed…But does this reaching of perfection …mean that such persons cannot sin? No, for persons reaching that state will not be assured of everlasting life until they prove faithful against a final attack by Satan the Devil.” (Life Does Have a Purpose, 1977, p. 176)
If Adam and Eve could not “prove faithful” even though they were “perfect,” how can you?
“One moment’s indiscretion, one lapse in good judgment, may undo all that has been built up, even jeopardizing our eternal welfare.” (The Watchtower, August 1, 1992, p. 17)
If Jesus died for ALL sin, what sin would cause you to lose eternal life?
“If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13, NWT)
